My life was like an April day that hailed the dawn of spring
The squalling winds, the rain that poured
did lift my soul on wings
Loves like flowers, ablaze with light, arose to woo my heart
Yet all proved false and none survived
the lingering winter frost
I did not weep, I did not grieve,
for in my mind I knew
Soon one would come to take me from
my joyous April dream
From this day I am as May, mid skies of crystal blue
With fields of green and trees in bloom
My love has come to me
No more of April's blustery winds,
no more the drenching rain
They shall be missed, I fear it's true,
but cloaked within his arms
The summer breeze will ease my loss
and soothe me with its charms
My wish is now that June will come
I crave the burning sun
The lazy days that cheat the night,
and land that teems with shooting seeds
My body yearns to be fulfilled,
the spark of life it seeks
Like mighty seas that hurl their waves
upon the jagged shore
A violence in me roars
To start anew, continue on
The final binding force
Alas the time begins to flee
The months will soon be gone
To bear a child with you, my love,
is all that I desire
For then the cycle will be run
And April days will greet our son
