The Lost Property Window

Rhymings of a Disintegrating Mind

Also available from Amazon.com
old saab car
2.  No cash, no folk, no coats, no phones
Just deadly silence besides their groans
But then as if by magic’s hand
Our man recalls his ex-wife’s land
A scrap heap of forgotten cars
It nonetheless is home to Lars

3.  Now Lars, a rather ancient Saab
Still needed work and lacked a carb
The girl, however, did so shiver
Our man, therefore, must soon deliver
So off they trot, though still quite shocked
With hopes alive, no doors are locked!

4.  He tugs his hair and rubs his neck
As point by point he checks the wreck
For missing parts he scours the yard
And with bare hands works mighty hard
A tool kit may well best high fashion
Alas with none he has but passion

5.  Is this the end? Our man defeated?
Why no, his girl is all he needed
To clean up spark plugs, set the gap
She drops her nail file in his lap
Her hair clips serve to bypass fuses
While face cream oils where ’er  he chooses

6.  A fan belt, yes, a pair of tights
Her wet-look top to bind frayed pipes
    Stiletto heels, now Heaven’s manner
Quite handy when you crave a hammer
For wire, there is the uplift bra
And varnish wipes to shift old tar
life’s like that...
7.  Alas more problems still remain
So will their efforts be in vain?
    Collapsed exhaust and coolant leaks
Electrics shot, the need for grease
Our lady, though, hides no dismay
There’s more to her than mere display

8.  Her belt deployed keeps pipes secure
That woollen skirt can bind and more
    With Vaseline, new contacts made
    Clippers, scissors, tools that aid
A mirror, too, can find a role
    Locating radiator holes

9.  Mascara, powder, chopped-up bristle
An evil mix to plug that drizzle
The cobbled carb and makeshift filter
What would our man have done without her?
Then as Jack Frost claims his right
Their work is done, as is the night

10. At last it is the time to test
The product of their mental zest
While for a battery’s life they prayed
I ignition wires are cut and laid
At first the engine moans in strife
Then Lars exhales and bursts to life

11. A glance, a smile, and then a stare
Good grief, the lady’s all but bare!
Aside his scarf, mere briefs remain
    What sacrifice, a crying shame!
For grimy hands must be wiped clean
Before our man can live his dream
In The Perfect Date (An Amateur Mechanic’s Dream) a young man has a dream date... Then things go badly wrong. Where’s the car..? What’ll he do..? Read on to find out how resourceful he is and how important it is that women carry those everyday ‘essentials’ with them  at all times!
from The Lost Property Window
1.  The night is cold with trembling stars
Behind them, doors are locked and barred
A pleasant meal, they’d ate in haste
For other pleasures yet to taste
A nightmare then befalls the pair
My God, the Jag’s no longer there!
